ASA Halloween Bash
The Coyotes played an impressive style of fastpitch softball with fantastic pitching and defense in a 3-2 contest with Rocky Mountain Thunder on Saturday followed by clutch hitting and multiple extra base hits in an 8-4 showdown against the Stars-Vasquez on Sunday. Kaylee Haran emerged from the first tournament of 2014 as the team leader in BAVG (.600) while Ambree Campbell provided 2 solid outings in the circle to finish with a 3.00 ERA.
Boulder Stars Fall Friendly
Saturday's twin bill against the 16s & 18s Wildcats of Denver teams featured an offensive barrage with 23 hits in 47 at-bats. Ambree Campbell tossed a no-hitter in Game 1 and Avery Bohn scattered just 6 hits in Game 2, allowing the Coyotes to outscore their opponents 25-4 over the 2 games.

The Coyotes completed this 6 game round robin format with 5 wins and an overall runs scored to runs against of 65-24. The Highlight of the weekend was a 4-3 victory over the DC Adrenaline featuring a running catch in foul ground by Avery Bohn and an RBI triple from Matti Morales.
In another weather shortened event, the Coyotes rolled up their 3 game pool to finish first overall in the tournament. Game 1 featured a 5 hitter and a 2-run HR from Ali Harford, with another 2-run HR from Matti Morales. Game 2 notched a win for Ambree Campbell and a save for Skylar Gardner. Game 3 was a shutout 4-hitter from Avery Bohn with Matti Morales blasting her 15th HR of the year. The day featured many outstanding defensive plays with Sara Mitchell and Kaylee Haran playing flawlessly in the middle infield while Emma Breit continued her flashy defense in the outfield.
In one of the better known Front Range ASA tournaments that is stocked with much of the best talent in Colorado, the Coyotes finished a hard fought weekend with 2 wins and 3 losses. Molly Nelson had a big game in a win over the Colorado Springs Bandits with a double, a triple, and 4 RBI. Matti Morales hit for the cycle over the 5 games, and both Ambree Campbell as well as Avery Bohn earned wins in the circle. Sara Mitchell led the Coyotes to their first ever triple play.

ASA St Paddy's Day
The first elimination tournament of 2014 found the Coyotes reaching the 3rd round on Sunday following a flawless pool play victory over the 16A Crush and a convincing 2nd round elimination game triumph over the 16A Venom Pierson. Simone Fohrman, Avery Bohn and Matti Morales all hit Grand Slams while Skylar Gardner, Ali Harford, Molly Nelson and Casey Skram also homered. The overall runs for vs runs against was 45-31 over 6 games, with 2 shutouts.
Sara Mitchell, Kaylee Haran and Molly Nelson all had 6 RBI on Saturday enroute to a perfect 3-0 record in pool play and a #1 seed entering elimination on Sunday. The Coyotes brandished an impressive display of flashy defense, timely hitting, and pressure pitching as they cruised into the semi finals. Katie Galloway tallied 3 doubles, a triple and 11 RBI for the weekend as the Coyotes outscored their opponents 57-22 over 5 games.
The Coyotes played exciting brand of fastpitch with a trio of 1-run ball games over the 2 days. Matti Morales had her own trio of 3-run HRs and Kaylee Haran chipped in a solo shot against the Triple Crown Stars. Molly Nelson hit safely in every game to raise her average to .529 and Ali Harford tallied her second win of the season with a scoreless outing against the Northern Colorado Stars Irwin.
In a weather shortened weekend, the Coyotes outscored their opponents by a combined score of 29-20 over 3 games. The weekend featured well played games with the 16A Next Level and 18A Cardinals-Sand. Matti Morales hit her 11th and 12th homeruns and Ambree Campbell notched her 2nd win in the circle.
Despite dire weather forecasts, the Coyotes played through the weekend and rattled off 4 consecutive victories to finish the tournament and win their bracket. All 4 Coyote pitchers earned a victory during the win streak, with a complete game shutout of the Colorado Stars by Avery Bohn capping the surge. Sara Mitchell, Ali Harford and Matti Morales homered for the Coyotes, with Kaylee Haran and Avery Bohn adding in triples.
The Coyotes made an impressive showing against the top 16A teams in the state, winning 2 out of 3 pool games to advance into the GOLD bracket Sunday. Avery Bohn and Skylar Gardner combined to shut out the 16A Colorado Diamonds, while Matti Morales continued her hot hitting with another 220 foot blast over the fence in left field.
In a rain shortened event, the Coyotes posted an impressive victory over the 16A Pony Express, battled the 18A Boulder Stars to a draw, and went back and forth with the 16A Warriors Wolfpack in a 7-6 ballgame that changed leads 4 times! Sara Mitchell added a fence clearing blast to her growing collection of web gems, and Ali Harford combined 2 hits and 2 RBIs with her complete game 6-hitter against the Pony Express.
THe Coyotes traveled to Taos, NM for a double elimination ASA tournament and rattled off 6 victories to bring home the trophy! Avery Bohn earned 4 victories in the circle (including a no-hitter in the Championship) while Ambree Campbell tallied the other 2 (including a gutsy complete game in the face of a 50 mph mountain maelstrom). With homeruns from Emma Breit and Katie Galloway, all 12 Coyotes on the roster have now homered in a tournament game.
